Nidovaldo was born in 1973 into a Christian family and got married to Helaine in 2000. When Nidovaldo was 8 years old, he felt the call of God to Africa. He graduated at university and then started to work as a university lecturer. After he married Helaine, a veterinarian at that stage, they decided to start a veterinarian clinic. They worked together for 14 years in this company. In 2005 Helaine felt that God is calling her to work in Africa as well. In the same year Nidovaldo felt the call to go to Theological Seminary to be better equipped to serve their local church. Helaine followed him, but enrolled for a basic course. They attended seminary in the evenings as they needed to keep the company running. In 2007, their call to serve God in Mozambique became quite strong. During 2008 they visited the mission field for the first time to get to know the work in Dondo, Mozambique and also to confirm their calling. They joined the Brazilian mission MAEB in 2009. The organization was already working in Mozambique in partnership with Global Mission South Africa. In the same year, they sold everything they had in Brazil and came to Africa as full time missionaries and joined the team in Dondo that October. Since then, they have been working in the mission field, helping the Mozambican church to become a mature, vibrant and healthy church by theological training, disciplining, equipping and empowering of the local leaders.
